One of the newest scams online has taken over Facebook. This scam offers you a Free Macbook Pro or Free iPhone 5 claiming just a few simple steps to claim one of many free MacBook Pros and iPhone 5s. These posts are usually accompanied with a photo showing boxes of Macbook Pros or boxed iPhone 5s. There have been many different versions of this scam popping up, however, the most common is using MacBook laptops or iPhone 5s.
My internet connection is fine for all other websites other than facebook. Furthermore, when I brought my MacBook Pro out-of-town facebook worked fine on a different internet source. In addition, facebook and all other websites are able to load on other devices on my home internet (desktops, laptops, iPad, iPod). Facebook is an average social media app that is nice for communicating with friends and family for free (via Messenger). But, with that being said, it is time for Facebook to release a major design update for the mobile app. Often, when I am checking the reactions to my posts on Facebook, the reactions never load, are miscounted, or not updated. History of Facebook and the Facebook Pro App. Facebook is a social networking and media site that was launched in February of 2004; its Free Facebook Pro app was released to work with Windows operating systems XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1.
How The iPhone 5 & MacBook Scam Works:
There are two versions of this scam. One version has you like the photo and share the photo. The idea is to get the most exposure for their scam. The scammers are hoping that you will end up liking their Facebook page allowing them to then fill your wall with additional scams.
The other version that is very popular is having your Like and Share the photo as well as visit a website to choose which one you would like to receive. This website takes you to what looks to be a Facebook authorization page that asks you to fill out a survey to enter for your chance to win. These 'surveys' are simply advertisements that the scammers get paid for you filling out. There is no entry and no prize to be won. See the screen shots below:
